America: The nation of Apathy

So today the war in Iraq has officially ended and no one cares. I don't know, maybe I'm psyco for thinking that this conflict that has been going on for like a decade ending is like sort of a big deal, but it is. Hello people!!!! Have a reaction! Get mad, get glad, rejoice over Bush, praise him, do something!
Don't just have a tiny blurb on AOL about it. It wasn't even on the front page of the newspaper. This is just pathetic. Our nation has become so media crazed that even at school no teacher or student mentioned it. yah, I get it, the conflict is a thousand plus miles away. But those are our sons, fathers, cousins, mothers, brothers, sisters. We're all connected somehow to a serviceman/women or a loved one of them. They're coming home, we're leaving Iraq to maybe letting it reverse it's progress! Isn't this news to care about? I mean who do you know that is a loved one of Kim Kardashian? Could her divorce probably ravish a nation and reverse all the modernizing and continue in death and violence? Erm, that would be a big fat NO! So why are you reading about that when you could be learning about a war ending. A war during your life time and one day your child will come home from history class and ask you about it and you'll say " There was a war? Really? Well I dunno, son." Our nation is no longer at war. For ten years we couldn't say that! And now no one is saying anything. I find that disturbing in so many ways. Apathy will destroy us and we follow in it's ways so closly that we won't notice until it's too late. And I know that makes me more upset than Kardashian getting divorced.
